I Love WordPress Workshop in Detail

April 23, 2008

So what exactly is going down at the AMIS I Love WordPress Workshop on Saturday, April 26? It’s going to be an intimate shindig with the open source world’s most flexible blogging/CMS platform. The essential breakdown of the workshop will look like this:

  • The basics - what the hell is WordPress and why am I here? An introduction to the platform.
Installation recommendations, overview (note: installations will already be completed, but we will go over how to do this on your own)
  • What’s in WordPress - posts, pages, categories, templates, plugins, themes, etc……
  • Using WordPress - writing posts, pages, changing the theme, working with plugins, navigating your way around the UI, etc……
  • Advanced WordPress lessons - working with “The Loop,” writing custom queries, working with template tags.

Now, this is subject to change. The workshop is slated from NOON until 3:00pm, but it may end sooner. It depends on how things go, how many questions people have, and how much YOU want to learn. You are welcome to bring your own laptop. Come out and you’ll learn something! To register for the workshop, please e-mail Anthony Bubel at yesterday@temple.edu.
